…We read books for different reasons.
At times it’s to experience the magic we imagine in
different realms. To let our spirits wonder in different places so that we can lose
ourselves only to be embraced and birthed in a glorious embrace.
If you have never experienced magic run through your
bones as your wildest imaginations come live, then this is the book to read, “Children
of Blood and Bones by Tomi Adeyemi”
It’s an epic! Intricate read about a girl called Zellie.
A black girl with long flowing white locks and magic in her whole being who is on a quest
to bring back magic to her people.
The atrocities experienced are so chilling and
disturbing at one point you stop to cry and take in the pain of the people.
It’s also interwoven witty characters and some sort of forbidden
love that you keep hoping it comes to light before the book ends.
Adeyemi, the author has not only increased how far anyone
can dream but also expanded how much we can imagine! To the little children
reading this I can only imagine how they feel!
Apparently the author first got the idea when she was in
a gift shop in Brazil and came across pictures of black gods and goddesses, but
until 8 months later while going through Pinterest and she met a character with
green hair that looked so magical that she actually begun materializing it!
Even to me this is a Cake with asparagus!
